PRESS RELEASE
With our national debt quickly rising to over 14 trillion dollars, many candidates for the 5th District Republican nomination are talking about the need to cut Federal spending.Yet, very few of these candidates are willing to talk about where these cuts should be made, and how deeply the cuts should be in each area of the federal budget.
Jim McKelvey is very concerned about our out of control Federal spending and our ever growing national debt. He is alarmed at the ever-expanding share of that debt every taxpayer must bear, which is approacing $117,000.00 per person. Jim understands that it is unfair to saddle both our children and grandchildren with this debt. Because of this, he has pledged to fight for across the board spending cuts and a balanced federal budget. Because Jim believes that our leaders must lead by example, he has taken a firm stand in refusing to take a salary and benefits for his first term in office as our next congressman. In addition, Jim has carefully studied the current federal budget, and has proposed a budget that is BALANCED, curbs wasteful spending, and shrinks the size of the federal government. In his budget proposal, Jim details where and how much he would like to cut from the Federal budget. He believes that it is time for action, and not just talk when it comes to fixing our nation's budget crisis. In his proposed federal Budget, Jim offers real solutions to the debt and spending crisis this country is currently facing, and when elected, he will take this solution to Capitol Hill for consideration by Congress.
2011 Balanced Budget
The Federal Budget is a grand total of $3.552 trillion with a projected income of $2.381 trillion. This is a deficit of $1.171 trillion. We cannot continue this insane policy of spending more than we take in.
