Jim McKelvey Announces Formation of Political Action Committee

Today I’m announcing that I am filing the necessary paperwork for the formation of a Political Action Committee. The name of our PAC is the “Take Our Country Back PAC”.
The purpose of this PAC is to seek out, support, educate, train and elect conservative candidates on the local and state level in the fifth district and throughout Virginia. Our PAC will be seeking to find candidates who have never run for public office before, but who share our conservative values and desire to serve our country in its time of need. Also, this Political Action Committee will urge lawmakers to sponsor and support legislation that I proposed during my campaign
During my time on the campaign trail, I had the opportunity to meet so many people who, like me, love their country but also fear the direction the government has taken it. There are so many wonderful Virginians who possess the necessary passion and ability to lead us, if we would just give them the chance. I’m establishing this PAC so they will have the opportunity to step forward and heed the call of service for our state and nation at the time when we need them the most. The purpose of this PAC is not to support career politicians, but rather it shall be the platform for everyday Americans to become our next leaders at every level of government.
Today, I funded the PAC with my own money, in order to plant the seed that will grow “citizen-legislators” within our society who will return our Republic back into the hands of the people.

Thank You

Moneta, VA - To my fellow conservatives, I want to thank you!
During this campaign I have had the privilege of meeting so many great fifth district Virginians. And, I have  learned so many things as I have toured the district in our campaign bus .  It is clear that the citizens of our area are looking for a strong constitutional conservative leader that will share our values. I am so very grateful for all the encouragement and support that they have given me.

Robert Hurt in Free-Fall on Tax Issue

-Hires D.C. Lawyers to Stop Radio Stations from Airing McKelvey Commercials That Tell the Truth about His $2 Billion Dollar Tax Increase Record-

Hurt's Favorate Radio Ad

Trying to hide the truth about his true record of voting for $2 billion dollars in tax increases,

Robert Hurt is advising his lawyers to suppress the truth before the vote in Tuesday’s

Republican Primary Election.

In a letter to radio stations, Holtzman Vogel PLLC states that:

“One of the two ads currently airing on your station contains a purported endorsement of Mr. McKelvey’s opponent, Robert Hurt, by former President Bill Clinton. While presumably intended to be satirical, this ad does not state that the voice is an impersonation of President Clinton could be a violation of Section 43 (a) of the Lanham Act concerning an individual’s right to publicity. See 15 U.S.C. 1125. As set forth in this letter, and based on the documentation included herein, your station is now on notice that the two ads at issue fail to comply with applicable legal requirements. I hereby request that you cease airing these advertisements until such time as the McKelvey campaign is able to satisfy its legal obligations.”

“Robert Hurt is running away from his high tax increase record that he simply cannot defend and is vulnerable in November to attacks from Democrat Tom Perriello,” Brian O’ Connor said.

Jim McKelvey Responds to Robert Hurt's Attack Mail

-Totally Out-of-Place for Incumbent State Senator Robert Hurt-

In a desperate attempt to distract voters from the truth, State Senator Robert Hurt has
sent out an attack on Jim McKelvey's campaign literature which explained to the voters
in the Fifth Congressional District how Robert Hurt's record is similar to our current
Congressman Tom Perriello.

FACT Robert Hurt is a lawyer. So is Tom Perriello.

FACT Jim McKelvey is a businessman. As a successful local businessman, Jim actively
supports local small businesses that hire local people that provide our community
with economic opportunities.

FACT Robert Hurt voted with the Democrats for the largest tax increase ($1.6 Billion) in
Virginia's history, when our Republican statewide ticket of Robert McDonnell,
Bill Bolling, and Ken Cuccinelli voted AGAINST this tax increase (HB 3202, 2004).

Jim McKelvey Calls Hurt Vulnerable on Tax Issue

-Democrats Will Run Against Robert Hurt As A Tax Raiser-

Moneta, Virginia - Contrary to Robert Hurt's campaign brochures that promote the message that "ROBERT HURT
HAS VOTED TO CUT TAXES MORE THAN 50 TIMES" without citation, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee launched today a Press Release that stated:  "Hurt has voted to authorize 28 different taxes and fees plus his one vote for a $1.4 billion tax increase ... a combined total of over $2 billion. Among others, Hurt voted to increase abusive
driver fees, diesel gasoline taxes, registration taxes and hunting license fees. He even authorized
raising the cost of buying and selling a home."
McKelvey said: "I am totally against raising taxes and fees that hurt our economy. I am the true
conservative Republican candidate. It is clear, when one views the facts on taxes, Robert Hurt is
running away from a record that he simply cannot defend.  This just proves the point that Robert
Hurt and Tom Perriello are both big tax and spend politicians."
