The United States must have a strong national defense. We must support our troops as they are deployed overseas to Iraq and Afghanistan. These brave men and women are leaving their friends and families behind for long periods of separation. While these many hardships are very real, they are nothing when compared to the risk of life and limb while deployed in these troubled regions of the world.
It is imperative that we provide the best equipment to our Airmen, Marines, Sailors, and Soldiers while they go into harms way for us.
It is also imperative that we provide the best support we can to their families left behind while our heroes are deployed. These families must make it on their own during these long deployments. God forbid that the absence of a long deployment become permanent. But should it, we must make sure that families left grieving are well taken care of and given our heartfelt condolences as a grateful nation for their families sacrifice.
We must also never forget our veterans. It does not matter if their service was recent or in the distant past , nor does it matter if peacetime or wartime, we must remember and honor our promises to our veterans. They have more than earned it.
